Because of the requirements of the process, the internal temperature of the crude oil storage tank or some pipelines is usually higher than the air temperature, and there will be a temperature difference between the inner and outer walls of the tank or pipeline. The temperature difference seriously affects the corrosion of carbon steel. This phenomenon is called cold wall effect.
