Ⅰ. Uses:

The test method described in NACE TM0174-2002 is called Atlas Cells, which is widely used by coating suppliers and material suppliers abroad, but rarely used in China. The Atlas test characterizes the resistance of the lining coating to chemical media in the presence of a temperature gradient and simulates the wall effect of uninsulated pipes and tanks. Similar tests are described in Method B of ASTM D6943 -- 2015. Atlas test is a kind of immersion test, but it is closer to the real situation, with only one side of immersion and the other side in contact with the atmosphere. The difference from ordinary immersion test is that both the tolerance of the medium and the cold wall effect are taken into account.

 ATLS test:

According to ASTM D6943-15 method B1 and ASTM DC868, the corrosion resistance and permeability resistance of the coating on the metal flat substrate were tested.

The substrate of the test plate is generally iron plate or stainless steel plate, which can be selected according to the specific test situation. The substrate needs to be coated with the coating to be tested after degreasing and sanding. Assemble the coated test sample into ATLAS glassware, and 2/3 to 3/4 of the coating will be immersed in liquid. After testing for a period of time at a certain temperature, whether it reaches the end point is measured by the size and density of defects generated on the surface of the coating, and the time required to reach the end point is recorded. In the process of testing, compressed air is introduced at the same time to make bubbles in the liquid, help the liquid temperature to be uniform and supply fresh oxygen.

Usually used conditions are: water, 90℃, atmospheric pressure.
